OUR STORY

Hi, I’m Kelli! The story behind Sugar Moon Mobile Bar Company starts with a dream that my husband Scott and I have had for several years. The idea was to take our love of entertaining and our passion for DIY projects and combine that with a business that infuses fun and blissful memories into people’s lives.

After 20 years working as a Physical Therapist and part-owner in an outpatient practice in Colorado Springs, I felt it was time to create a business that would suit our lifestyle and talents and help us achieve more balance and flexibility in our lives. While Scott continues to dedicate himself to his work as a high school guidance counselor, he rolls up his sleeves on the weekends and gets his hands dirty with me as we transform our vintage fleet into spectacular centerpieces for your special soiree. I am usually a one-woman show, from cleaning and delivering the bars, to handling social media and marketing, I love this new career path into the events industry!

What is Sugar Moon?

The pressure of a name…It takes a lot of thought to come up with a meaningful name for a business! I knew I wanted the name of our company to have historical significance but also be fun to say and easy to remember. So, I researched Colorado history and the prohibition era and discovered that local moonshiners were getting creative in the 1920’s. The traditional recipe for moonshine was made from rye, a crop that was uncommon in Colorado. So, moonshiners up and down the Front Range of Colorado started making their spirits from sugar beets. It was (and still is) an easy-to-grow crop locally due to an abundance of sunny days here in Colorado. That moonshine became known to locals as ‘Sugar Moon.’ The perfect name for our mobile bar rental business to match our vintage style!
