Frequently Asked Questions
Do you provide bartending services?
No we don’t. Our vintage mobile bars are rented “dry,” meaning we do not provide or serve the alcohol or beverages for your party. You will need to work with your licensed and insured caterer or bartending service to provide beverage service from our structure. Sugar Moon Mobile Bar Company does not have a liquor license or food license, we are simply a party rental company specializing in renting vintage mobile bars and adorable add-on items.
How far will you travel?
We will travel anywhere along the front range of Colorado from Pueblo to North Denver. The minimum delivery fee is $50 for small items. Delivery is calculated based on distance from our warehouse in Colorado Springs and a number of other factors. Once your inquiry is approved the quote will include a delivery estimate.
If I change my mind on the date of my party can I switch my reservation?
Yes, but your 50% non-refundable deposit will not be returned and we will require a 50% non-refundable deposit for the new date. It’s best to be certain of the date you want before booking so you don’t lose your money
What is the difference between non-refundable Damage Waiver and refundable Damage Deposit?
The Damage Waiver is non-refundable. It covers wear and tear, minor repairs and maintenance of the rental items. It is 8% of the rental fee.
The Damage Deposit is refundable. It is only required when you rent our 3 mobile bars: Betty the camper bar, Cheers m’Dears the camper bar and Otho the Tap Truck. This fee will be put on your credit card as an authorization hold. We won’t actually bill it if you return our bars in the condition in which you received them. If there is damage to our bars when we do the final walk through during pick-up, this fee will be charged to your credit card and will go towards repairs or replacement. If the cost of repairs/replacement is over the amount of the Damage Deposit, you will be billed for those costs, in addition to the Damage Deposit.
If you are using licensed/insured staff the damage deposit is $500 per mobile bar.
If you are not using licensed/insured staff, and are doing DIY or self-serve, then the damage deposit is $750 per mobile bar. *
*other requirements for DIY/self-service are: paid hourly attendant, day-of event insurance
What is a Lindr keg cooling system?
Lindr offers the best dry cooling and dispensing technology for delivering beer, wine, coffee, kombucha, prosecco and cider chilled to your choice of temperatures one glass at a time. With a Lindr system, there is no need to keep the keg cold or on ice. A quiet air compressor and stainless steel coil system cools the beverage on the way to the tap. Kind of like the Lamborghini version of a Jockey Box and NO ICE REQUIRED!!
When is my final payment due? Can I do a payment plan?
We collect 50% of the rental fee up front as a non-refundable deposit to hold your date, then the rest is due 30 days prior to your event. If not paid on time, your event date and rental items are considered cancelled and will be released back into available inventory.
We would be happy to set up installment payments leading up to the 30-day due date.
What happens if I cancel?
You lose the 50% non-refundable deposit AND if you’ve paid installments towards your balance and cancel:
-less than 30 days out, we keep the entire amount paid and you still owe us any remaining balance.
-30-60 days out, we keep 50% of anything you’ve paid over and above the 50% non-refundable deposit.
-60-90 days out, we keep 25% of anything you’ve paid over and above the 50% non-refundable deposit.
-greater than 90 days out, we’ll refund anything you’ve paid over and above the 50% non-refundable deposit.
Can I rent a Sugar Moon mobile bar for my backyard party? Can I serve drinks from your bars myself?
Sure! We do allow you to serve your own drinks or have your guests serve themselves, but in order to protect our equipment and to protect our customers from liability, some restrictions apply:
-self-serve is not allowed from our camper bars, Betty and Cheers m’Dears
-self-serve is allowed from our tap truck, Otho
-a paid hourly Sugar Moon staff member must be onsite and act as an attendant to “babysit” the bar while you use it
-higher damage deposit (on your credit card as an authorization hold)
-purchase and show proof of “day-of” event insurance, with Sugar Moon Mobile Bar Company listed as additional insured, 30 days prior to event. Policy must include “host liquor liability” and general liability, which protects you in the case that something goes awry. We trust The Event Helper to protect our customers with Liquor Liability and General Liability for events. We do not receive any kick-backs, except peace of mind.
With all of that being said, we highly recommend hiring a licensed and insured beverage caterer instead of doing it DIY. Check our our Vendors tab for our favorites!
How much does it cost to rent a vintage mobile bar?
Prices start at $800 to rent Otho our tap truck, and $1000 to rent our camper bars, for up to a 6 hour event. Check out the “Shop Our Rentals” tab or click “Our Mobile Bars” to find out more details. If you require special arrangements, do not hesitate to fill out the inquiry form on the contact us page.
Are your mobile bars suitable for indoor events?
Yes! They can be utilized anywhere they safely can fit. Dimensions for Betty the camper bar are about 14’L x 7’W x 10’H. Dimensions for Otho the tap truck are about 9’L x 5’W x 6’H. Otho can even fit in most freight elevators! Keep in mind, Betty our camper bar, requires a tow vehicle that can pull through and drop her off.
What kind of power supply will we need?
Both of our mobile bars require 110V household electricity, on a designated outlet, within 50ft, to power the Lindr keg cooling system. A generator can be rented, for an additional fee, if household power is unavailable.
Betty can run for nearly 4 hours on her 12V battery system which can power: overhead ceiling lights, exterior running lights, the cooler/freezer, water pump for the hand washing sink, and the exhaust fan. But she needs 110V power for other interior/exterior lighting and the outlets.
Otho can run for nearly 2 hours on his 12V battery system which can power: tap wall lighting and cab lighting.
Does Sugar Moon Mobile Bar Company have insurance?
You betcha! We carry General Liability and Property Liability in the form of an Inland Marine Policy, as well as Commercial Auto Coverage. We DO NOT have liquor liability insurance as we are simply a party rental company and do not provide, sell or serve food, alcohol or beverages.
Other Terms and Conditions:
1. Don’t move our bars once we place them. It’s not safe for your or our bars. Plus, there is a $500 fee for doing so.
2. No smoking in or around our bars. We don’t want our bars to stink! Plus kegs often use CO2 and Nitro canisters and they are flammable.
3. Know what is underground and overhead before we arrive, deliver and set-up. We are not responsible for any underground utilities, sprinkler systems, septic systems, overhead clearance such as electrical wires and tree branches, etc.
4. During the rental period, it is up to the customer to protect our bars and rental items from damage due to weather, unauthorized, illegal or improper use, and breakage.
5. If your party gets rowdy and our bars or staff are at risk, we are leaving. No refund, no questions.
6. If our bar won’t fit where you want it to, or we can’t easily access the area, we are not parking there.
5. You break it, you replace it (or pay to fix it)
7. DIY and self-serve = higher damage deposit, paid hourly attendant and proof of day-of insurance
8. 50% non-refundable deposit AND signed contract to reserve your date and rental items (quotes and orders are not final until received)
9. 8% non-refundable damage waiver on all rental items to cover wear and tear, minor repair, and maintenance
10. $500-$750 refundable damage deposit for mobile bar rental, on your credit card as an authorization hold
