Let’s face it, other than the dancefloor, the bar area is going to be one of the busiest places at your wedding! Here are some of my favorite tips to give clients when they are planning the bar area at their wedding.

1. Guest Experience

If you want your wedding to feel relaxed and encourage connection with your guests, make sure guests have a place to mingle and linger!

Consider providing high-top tables or a lounge area to encourage your guests to relax and enjoy the delicious drinks you’ve provided for them! Bring your Pinterest board to life by planning a bit of décor around the bar too! Consider adding fresh or faux florals on and around the bar and, depending on the aesthetic of your event, maybe some rugs and small furniture or decorative accents. Check out our Sugar Moon Pinterest Boards for inspiration!

2. Lighting

A dark bar feels uninviting and let’s be honest…BORING! Be sure to add lighting around the bar area especially if your bar is outside in the evening.

As the sun sets, plan ahead and make sure there are LED lanterns and battery powered lights illuminating your decor, so it can be enjoyed as the night goes on. Whether you install overhead café lighting, or maybe some color-changing LED lights, or even just a unique lamp sitting on the corner of the bar, it will make an impact and invite your guests to hang out! Make an effort to really light up the bar area and create a fun mood for your guests…and bartenders!

Here are a few of my favorite LED lighting products we use around our bars to create ambiance and functional lighting:

These are the best little battery operated LED pillar candles that don’t melt in the sun and can withstand *some* moisture.

These are just the cutest little solar LED Firefly lights to tuck down into floral arrangements, or even into the ground, lighting the area around the bar.

3. Temperature

Make the bar area COZY! If you’re having an outdoor wedding in Colorado, you should know that the weather can change in 10 minutes. Not kidding! Be prepared, and consider renting upright propane heaters or Wine Barrel Fire Pit Tables to keep guests comfortable when it cools down after sunset. Consider placing umbrellas near tables for shade if it’s going to be hot and sunny. We rent umbrellas that look as vintage as our bars, that you can easily add on to your bar rental on our website. A basket full of blankets for guests, or personal fans could be a fun party favor idea, while also being practical and helping guests to be comfortable during the reception!

I hope you found these tips helpful when planning the bar area for your wedding! And OF COURSE the bartenders and the delicious drinks are the absolute best part of the bar!
