Being a vendor at the HGTV Smart Home 2023 – Santa Fe, NM

The thing about HGTV is that everyone who works with them and for them are just awesome human beings.

So, inevitably you make friends with the people you meet at an HGTV event. That’s what happened when we were hired to be a vendor at the HGTV Dream Home in December 2022. I met Lauren, who was the site manager and HGTV representative for the Dream Home in Morrison. We loved chatting with her, getting to know her and hearing about the behind-the-scenes things that go on…you know, as one does when hanging out in an HGTV Dream Home. Ahem.

When I got an Instagram message from Lauren in April 2023, asking if I knew any mobile bar vendors in Santa Fe, I was so excited to hear from her and to try to help her find someone for their upcoming Smart Home event. I reached out to my contacts but couldn’t find anyone with a mobile bar in Santa Fe. So, I offered to drive Betty down for the party. And to my thrill they said YES!!

3 days later I was pulling Betty into the driveway of the HGTV Smart Home 2023! It. Was. So. COOL!! The sponsor of this event was Sherwin Williams – HGTV Home, Earthly Charm Color Collection. And let me tell you, the designer Tiffany Brooks knocked it out of the park with this home! It was perfect for Santa Fe, perfect for hot and sunny climates, soothing colors, but not overtly Southwest, but just enough Southwest to feel…well, perfect. Between the rooftop lounge, and the soaking tub in the primary suite, you’d have a tough time getting me to leave that house, if I owned it. I can only imagine how amazing the stars would be from that rooftop lounge or the plunge pool at night!

The other thing about people that work with HGTV, is that everyone is a professional and they bring their A-Game.

The food, the drinks, the influencers, the representatives from HGTV and Sherwin Williams, and of course the amazing Tiffany Brooks, they were all just incredible experts at what they do. I’ve always wanted to be a fly on the wall during an event like that, and my dream came true! Betty and I got to hang out with everyone and be a (small) part of this very cool event. My A-game was having my friend Sarah, from The Flower Corner Co. whip up some custom boho-chic, HGTV-worthy floral arrangements to zhuzh up Betty’s bar. And I borrowed a custom hat from my friend Heidi with Unicorn of the West so I could try to fit in down there in Santa Fe. I think it worked! Betty and I looked the part, and the home was just perfect for indoor-outdoor entertaining.

I’ve offered to wrap Betty with a gigantic HGTV logo and follow their team around the country to all of the Dream Homes, and Smart Homes and Urban Oasis Homes…they haven’t taken me up on that yet, but I’m still hopeful. Even if that never happens, I’ll still be on cloud 9 because I got to work with HGTV not ONCE…but TWICE!
